Pistol Courses

At ManAlone we offer a very wide range of pistol courses, and yes, each one is different. Not only that, but each time we run a course it morphs a bit and we integrate different drills and quals into the mix.

There are the core fundamentals, what we call 'the package' and this is universal across every offering, although you will find it increasingly challenging to apply them as you move through the line up.

Where do you start? A vast majority of students should begin with Pistol Skill Building 1. Pistol Skill Building is a stand alone shooting course series that will impart the skills to allow you to enter our fighting courses with confidence, or you can use them simply to shoot better. While shooting is an essential skill in the armed encounter, there is way more to it than that. Most people don't realize the depth of this truth until they get into the advanced courses. We are working to offer the PSB series more frequently, and we can also teach it on demand to your group or privately. Many law enforcement departments seek to combine courses with a day of PSB that morphs into a fighting course. For contract entities whether pro or otherwise, we can do that. We have great flexibility and a wide range of offerings that we simply can't fit onto the schedule or website.

If you think you are prepared for the fighting courses, and don't want to take PSB 1, here is a concession that we make for you. Sign up for PSB 1 and after the first day if we think you are able to move up we will let you know. If you choose to not attend the second day based on our assessment, we will roll that tuition into your next class. Some students have proven themselves very early on by taken their CWP training with us. That remains an option. We get emails from people asking why they can't just start at the level they want, and if they fail they fail. There are two reasons for that. First of all, if you are not prepared then you hold the rest of the class up. That's just the way it is; we're not going to stand by and not spend time trying to see to your success. Secondly, the advanced courses are dynamic. Before we have you moving with a gun, we're going to make sure that you are safe with a gun while stationary. Well experienced gun pros and agencies come to see us because we have expanded the training experience in directions that they can't get on their official ranges. That means that you, the average Joe, have also not likely trained in the fluid way that we work. Safety is a big deal and we will see to the safety of our students even if we turn away some inflated egos in the process. Safety first, in all that we do.

S.C. Concealed Weapons Permit

We offer a very comprehensive S.C. CWP course. From weapon safety through statutory law we will cover it all in a thorough manner. You will be challenged to think through your condition in life, to apply what you are learning, and establish protocols that will save your life and keep you legal should the need arise. There is a state mandated written test as well as a live fire qualification. We teach to a higher standard and will hold each student to a higher standard on both. There are plenty of places where you show up, turn around and walk out certified (and that should concern you). We are here to elevate the level of training.

There is so much in this course that we HIGHLY recommend that you take it in conjunction with one of our other pistol courses like Pistol Skill Building 1 or Tactical Pistol I. It certainly makes sense in this litigious time to want more than to meet minimal standards.

Join us, do it right the first time. It's your money, your time, and your life. Invest well. Most of our classes for CWP are by arrangement with individual groups of folks that want to train together. Assemble your group of six or more and coordinate a training date with us. This is only rarely going to be on the schedule as an open enrollment course.

Pistol Skill Building 1

While an excellent course for beginners, they are not the only ones that can benefit from it. Most folks that we see need this course even before CWP. It is the stepping stone to better performance; improved speed and precision through mastery of fundamentals no matter what the shooter level. If you come in as a better shooter, we simply adjust the expectations for you upward and fine tune your fundamentals more stringently. This is a low pressure course that will allow newer shooters to develop fundamentals and mechanics while it allows better shooters a chance to restructure fundamentals and overcome learning scars. Even top level shooters take this course to drive their performance upward. It is a crucial course for building not on the shooting skill but understanding. It certainly beats going to the range and more deeply entrenching bad habits. We will allow a qualified, well motivated teenager into this course with a parent also enrolled.

Pistol Skill Building, Level 2

Level two takes the accomplished shooter deeper into the mechanics and diagnostics that are essential to improving the shooting segment of the gunfight. Level 2 is a pass/fail course. This is very rarely on the schedule so if you see it and want it sign up. It may be some time before you see it again.

In our continuing effort to get families training together, PSB 1 is a class in which we allow a teen to train with a parent. We will furnish a quality free loaner pistol and accessories should the family only have one pistol rig. We're reducing the obstacles to your training together.

Street Smart Survival

This is an evolved course from Advanced Concealed Carry. Learn effective strategies for carrying, setting protocols, and the mental processes that are essential for surviving and staying out of litigation in the gunfights of today. One of the biggest challenges that you, the shooter faces, is that you not endanger those around you while by entering into a lethal force encounter. This is far, far more complex than you might think. You will likely shoot a hostage or a kid in a parking lot in this course. It's better to learn that lesson with us than on the street. Learn gear selection, methods of drawing from concealed, staging up ammo for ready access, illuminating your target in the darkness, and much more. You will have to work your way through a crowd to a live fire solution. We will work from a range car on repelling a car jacking. We spend very little time on the standard firing line in this course. Our range expanse allows us to set up different scenarios and range situations to bring the lesson objective into a 3D, dynamic live fire problem to be solved. You can go stand on a range all you want, but it's not going to teach you how to respond to the active shooter while you're out eating, or what to do when the cretin wants to jack you and your car. Before courses start we hear people say, 'I can shoot, I've got this'. An hour into the course they're revising that position. We have cops take this course so they know how to work in plain clothes or protect their family when not on duty. They realize that owning a pistol doesn't confer competence. We teach a version of this to a Tier One Government Team that operates in the most hostile parts of the world in thin skinned vehicles.

Pistol Skill Building 1 or Fighting Pistol are required prior to entry into this course. Each student MUST fulfill a static course with us before moving into the dynamic series.

Defensive Pistol

Like Street Smart Survival, Defensive Pistol is a scenario driven course. We take you through home invasions, active shooter attacks, and armed responses within the home and workplace; that is, the places that you are most likely to have to defend. There are places in the home that afford good protection from incoming rounds, there are safeguards in the workplace but reading about them or watching a video will never replace being put through your paces in a live fire exercise. This is a very eye opening course.

Fighting Pistol I

This course morphed from Tactical Pistol. The intensity takes a step up with FP1 and continues through the series. This is a gun fighting course. We don't mean that in terms of you become Wyatt Earp. WE mean it in terms of if you draw your gun you are a gunfighter and you better solve the problem or it will solve you. This is in its earlier form was our most popular course with folks sometimes taking it 6-8 times or more. It is an enjoyable and fulfilling experience, but the workload steadily increases. There is movement, depending on weather and class composition, but youthful mobility is not necessarily required. We will do some open hand defenses, a medical segment with tourniquets, and a generally wider outlook on that can go wrong in the gunfight. With the addition of Pistol Skill Building this course has become more demanding. PSB is recommended prior to enrolling, but is not required. This is a pass/fail course.

Urban Pistol

This begins our 'practical' courses. Other than a warm up no time is spent on the flat range. You will be in the air, both above and below other shooters, firing from a tunnel after crawling through it. walking a suspended cat walk. You might not complete the objective like the person before you, but generally folks find a way. While we call it Urban Pistol, it is equally applicable to rural setting. If you wear a uniform and carry a gun this course should be on your 'must have' list. Properly prepared civilians take this course time after time. Expanding the capabilities is the best preparation for the armed encounter. PSB 1 or Tactical Pistol 1 must be completed with a solid performance before entering this course. This is a pass/fail course.

This was one of our specialty courses reserved for gun pros that has made its way into our regular line up. It's not the shooting that wins the gunfight, it's seizing the opportunities as they arise. The movement aspect of the course isn't running or jumping, it is understanding how you need to position yourself advantageously so that when you get to the cover you can start work. Cover comes in all different types, from something simple that is already there, to something you might improvise. Solid performance in PSB1 or TP1 is required prior to entry. This is a pass/fail course.

Stress Fire

This is a tough course in which mental stresses are imposed while also dealing with demanding physical feats and challenging live fire drills. This is a course for people that want to get a close look at their performance levels and failure points. This is a specialty course that is generally on the open enrollment schedule only once per year. Successful completion of PSB 1 or TP 1 required prior to entry.

Now, it's back in the regular course line up after a period of being available by contract only. In a gunfight as well as in your day to day, damage occurs. We find it astounding how many people carry guns, but not a tourniquet. A vast number of people go off to remote patches of land to shoot regularly with no safety plan and no medical gear. This is not the way it should be. Learn medical procedures that can save your life, then apply them in a live fire setting. This is a rocking course and as valuable an education as any you can get behind a gun. Build context, build skills. We can't begin to say how crucial this course is. PSB1 or TP1 required before entry.

Kid's Firearms Safety Workshop

Kid's Firearms Safety Workshop

Duration: One Day

Cost: $550, per group of six.

Every summer, and other times by request, we try and offer a productive activity to acquaint children and youths with firearms and the great outdoors. The younger kids usually enjoy a hike in the woods and maybe a hayride behind the tractor at lunch. To keep it interesting we change it up. The older kids probably want to shoot more rounds and more different guns. Ammunition costs are extra, and there are guidelines that have to be met so please email for details and to get on the schedule. We have had kids as young as five years old enjoy this program.
