Fighting Shotgun
Probably the first weapon most of us shot was a shotgun. Being on the receiving end of the recoil we realized immediately the violent format the shotgun provides. As my father said, "you think that's rough you ought to be on the business end". Enough said, thank you pops.
Like most of our open enrollment tactical series, the class begins the evening before the range sessions with safety brief and orientation. We try to keep it brief, but safety trumps all other considerations and we have to review range procedures thoroughly.
Training Rubric:
SAFETY (it bears repeating)
GEAR types and suggestions
HANDLING/POSITIONS
RECOIL MITIGATION
AMMO TYPES/CHANGEOVERS
SIGHTING IN/PATTERNING
RELOADS (there's more to it than just shoving in ammo)
SHOOTING POSITIONS
WEAPON TRANSITIONS
MOVING
Two training days are spent on the range. Each student will fire 500 rounds of birdshot and approximately 50 rounds each of slugs and buck shot. The course is exhilarating and will find the student in a steady state of work and growth. A semi automatic or pump shotgun is required (12 or 20 gauge). Whereas in the pistol series as well as the carbine series there is the tendency to spend on expensive gear and/or customization. The shotgun is a great equalizer in that the guys with the base line 870's or Mossbergs will perform as well as the guys with the expensive guns. Email for further information and a complete gear list. Prepare to work, and prepare to come out of this looking at the shotgun in a whole new way.
We have some rental shotguns and can arrange to have ammo for you if you are traveling in.
Cost: $450.00
It is recommended that you reserve your slot now if you are interested in this course.
THIS IS A VERY EXCITING COURSE.
Just because you kill birds or deer with a shotgun does not mean you are ready to defend your life with one.
